Nancy Macan McNally -- Executive Director
Serving as Executive Director since the Coalition’s inception, Nancy brings more than two decades of coalition building experience to NESARC. Nancy is ultimately responsible for all of the Coalition’s activities, but focuses the majority of her efforts on positioning the Coalition for maximum effectiveness with Congress and the Administration. Nancy is a Principal of the firm of Van Ness Feldman.
Joseph Nelson -- Counsel
Joe served on the legislative staff of former Sen. James A. McClure (R-ID) and then Rep. Larry E. Craig (R-ID), where he worked primarily on agricultural and budget matters. He brings to NESARC his extensive experience in project compliance and permitting matters arising under the Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act, National Environmental Policy Act and other environmental statutes. Joe is a Member at Van Ness Feldman.
Rick Agnew -- Counsel
Rick served as Chief Minority Counsel to the House Committee on Interior and Insular Affairs (now the Committee on Resources) from1985 to 1991. Rick provides legal services, assists with legislative drafting, and provides strategic counsel. Rick also provides expertise on many of the contentious ESA issues involving the Pacific Northwest. Rick is a Member of the firm of Van Ness Feldman and works out of the firm’s Seattle, Washington office.
Bob Szabo -- Counsel
A guiding force behind many of Washington’s most successful energy and environmentally focused legislative coalitions, Bob previously served as the Senior Legislative Assistant to Senator J. Bennett Johnston (D-LA). As Counsel to the Coalition, Bob oversees legislative drafting, assists in the development of legislative strategy, and provides strategic advice and counsel. Bob is a Member of the law firm of Van Ness Feldman.
Curt Rich -- Counsel
In 1997, Curt completed five years as Natural Resource and Energy Counsel to U.S. Senator Max Baucus (D-MT), before moving to the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, where he served as the lead lobbyist on such diverse issues as ESA reform and electric restructuring. Curt now provides NESARC with legal services and plays a lead role in advancing ESA reforms to Members of Congress and their staff. Curt is Of Counsel with the firm of Van Ness Feldman.
Jordan Smith -- Communications Director
As NESARC’s Communications Director, Jordan is responsible for public outreach, media relations, and membership development services for the Coalition. In addition to drafting NESARC’s newsletter, the ESA Update, Jordan facilitates regular and timely communication to the coalition’s membership, to prospective members, and to Congressional and Administration staff. Jordan is a government policy professional at Van Ness Feldman.
